Accessibility statement

Last updated:

Site last checked:

We are committed to giving everyone equal, respectful and accessible service, including people with disabilities. The site has been adapted to the Israeli Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Law, 1998, and the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adjustments) Regulations, 2013. It meets Israeli Standard IS 5568 at level AA (based on WCAG 2.0), except for the limitations listed below; the site was also checked against WCAG 2.1 AA. The last check included automated scans (axe and Lighthouse) and manual testing: keyboard navigation, labels and structure for screen readers, colour contrast and phone-width layout.

Accessibility features on this site

  • “Skip to content” link: the first press of Tab shows a link at the top of the page that jumps straight to the main content.
  • Keyboard navigation and focus: links, buttons and form fields are standard HTML elements and can be reached with Tab. The focused element has a clearly visible outline.
  • Clear structure for screen readers: headings in order, defined navigation, main content and footer, and changes on the page, such as gallery filter results and form messages, are announced to screen readers.
  • Alternative text: every tattoo photo in the gallery has alternative text (alt) in English and Hebrew that names the piece: its subject, style and placement. Purely decorative images are marked so screen readers skip them.
  • Forms: every field in the booking form and the health declaration has a label, and error messages are tied to their field and read out by screen readers.
  • Colour contrast: the site’s text colours (light text on a dark background) were chosen for a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1.
  • Zoom and responsive layout: the site adapts to phones and computers, and does not block zooming on phones.
  • Reduced motion: when the device’s “reduce motion” setting is on, the site turns off its transition animations and smooth scrolling. Videos keep playing, and each one can be stopped with its pause button.
  • Stopping videos: every looping video (at the top of the home page, in “The process” and in the gallery) has a pause and play button.
  • Phone menu: while the menu is open, focus stays in it, and Esc closes it and returns focus to the menu button.
  • Viewing a piece up close: every gallery piece opens from a button. In the enlarged view the arrow keys move between pieces, Esc closes it, and focus returns to the piece that was opened.
  • Aftercare sheet: next to the designed sheet, all the instructions are also on the page as plain text that can be enlarged and read aloud.
  • Health declaration: required fields are marked, and it can be signed by typing your full name instead of drawing, so it can be filled in and sent with a keyboard or a screen reader.
  • Touch targets: the main buttons and links are at least 44 pixels, and links that open a new tab say so to screen readers.
  • Language and direction: the site is available in English and Hebrew (right to left), and each page declares its language so screen readers read it correctly.

Known limitations

  • Contact and the booking form go through WhatsApp, Instagram is an external service, and the health declaration uses a Cloudflare verification check. Their accessibility is the responsibility of the companies that run them. If they are hard for you to use, please phone instead.
  • The map at the bottom of the home page is shown through Google Maps, and its accessibility is Google’s responsibility. The address also appears as text beside the map, the link under the map opens it in Google Maps, and you are welcome to phone for directions.
  • Despite our efforts, some parts of the site may not yet be fully accessible. We keep checking and improving it.

Accessibility at the studio

Tattoos are done at a studio at 22 Herzl St, Rishon LeZion. The studio is on the ground floor, and accessible parking is a few minutes' walk away. For details on the accessibility of the studio's restroom, please get in touch before your visit. If you need any other accessibility arrangement for your visit or the session, contact Eden in advance to coordinate it.
